NEWS FOR 2010

This year's 7 on 7 Royal Vanier Grey Cup Weekend game was held in Caledonia at Mohawk Field on November 29th, therefore our 7 on 7 Super Bowl Sunday Chili Snow Bowl will be held in Ancaster at Royals Field at the Meadowlands on February 7th, with the Ancaster Scenic Woodsmen officially replacing last year's rival Hamilton Mountainmen and both our past archrivals of year's past Hagersville Caledonia Henchmen - here is the complete history of the Royal Vanier Grey Cup Weekend in the fall and the Super Bowl Sunday Chili Snow Bowl in the winter since 2003 - hope to hear from those who remember, watched or played in the final championship games back then and up to now soon!

For the Redeemer Rough Royals football club, from September to December, the outdoor tackle football season is played, from January to April, the indoor touch football season is played. In the past, the outdoor matches were played mainly against our archrivals Hamilton Stoney Creek Steelers club from Mohawk Trojan Field and Hagersville-Caledonia Henchmen club from Highway Six Field and the indoor wall to wall brawl matches between the split Team Red, Team White and Team Black squads until the point of all out ironman fraternicide during our 50 yard indoor war on the gym floor. Both formats of game allow the Redeemer Rough Royals club to workout in an independent combine skill development and testing regimen within away from all the league created hype without!

The outdoor style of play will not change, with the games being played from the beginning of September to the end of the year on the CFL Grey Cup and NFL Super Bowl championship final games. All exclusively played at either the home of the Hamilton Stoney Creek Steelers being the Mohawk Trojan Field from 2003-2005 and Highway Six Field from 2006-2008, right behind the glorious Highway Pentacostal Church, which is the official home of the Hagersville Caledonia Henchmen. The strong ties of this agreement between each of these entitites has been going on since 2006, when the storied tradition and hardcore rivalry began between both clubs. For 2009 and 2010, however, the Redeemer Rough Royals will bring the Chili Snow Bowl home to Royal Field at the Meadowlands against both the Hamilton West Mountainmen and the Ancaster Scenic Woods Wildcats respectfully.

However this year of 2010 for indoor play, along with Team Red, Team White and Team Black, we are looking to possibly drop the team rosters to 5 from 7 and then added 2 more teams. The arena indoor rink style play has started its past regular season in January and concluded in March, where by the end of the month will crown its champion within its final playout series. However, because of these changes and other internal matters involving the athletic department, the club will delay the indoor season until the end of February with the end coming in early April. Again, the Redeemer Rough Royals want to openly thank Redeemer University College for the cooperation with the institution, of which none of this would be possible, and with hope it can expand from its current base for the 2010-11 season, eventually into a full grown sport of its own in the conference and league provincially and nationally!

Redeemer University College has unofficially had football ongoing since 2003 ... 2006 was the year it expanded into both no equipment outdoor tackle and indoor touch games ... 2009 is the year it expands again with the club officially becoming the Redeemer Rough Royals, looking to play an independent af3/YFL league, before officially qualifying for university league sport.
